AWP Operating Company was incorporated in November 1992 by Joe Dishron and son, Barney Dishron, to operate oil and gas producing properties in South Texas and the Texas Gulf Coast. The Company currently operates 92 wells in McMullen, Webb, Live Oak, Duval, and Frio Counties. AWP specializes in drilling and completion of wells in the Olmos Formation but also has significant experience in the Frio, Vicksburg, Yegua, Hockley, Pettus, Queen City, and Wilcox Formations.

Joe Dishron graduated from the University of Houston in 1960 with degrees in Petroleum Engineering and Math. Joe had an extensive and exciting career working the oil fields from the Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic Circle and most points in between. He was Vice President of Drilling and Production with Burnett Oil Company in Fort Worth, Texas, which drilled the discovery well in the AWP (Olmos) Field, McMullen County, Texas. Joe serves as an advisor to the Company.
Barney Dishron graduated from Texas A&M University in 1983 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. Barney’s career has been spent working the South Texas/Gulf Coast regions in drilling, completion, and production operations. Prior to starting the Company, he worked for Coastal Oil and Gas and Dekalb Energy. Barney is President of the Company and manages all day-to-day activities.
